25+ YEARS.
TWO SIDES OF THE TABLE.
EVERY LEVEL OF THE ORGANISATION.

Richard has spent more than 25 years leading people, developing talent and helping organisations build the capability they need to perform and grow.

His career has been split fairly evenly between operational leadership and Talent Development & Learning.

He has led large, multi-site teams with responsibility for people, performance and commercial results. He has also built corporate Talent and Learning functions from the ground up and led them across the UK and internationally.

That combination has shaped his approach to development.

Richard has experienced the challenge from both sides: as an operational leader developing people while delivering results, managing costs and hitting targets, and as a Talent leader working with senior stakeholders to understand what people need to be able to do for an organisation to succeed.

A significant part of his career has focused on leadership capability, from helping people make the transition into their first management role through to developing experienced and senior leaders.

He has worked at every level of organisations, from frontline teams and first-line managers through to senior leaders, executive teams and boards.

His wider experience includes Learning and Talent strategy, performance and capability frameworks, talent and succession planning, career pathways and organisation-wide development.

THE THINKING BEHIND LEARNING LOCAL

LEARNING ISN'T THE OUTCOME.
PERFORMANCE IS.

A completed course doesn't tell us whether someone can lead a team, give useful feedback, handle a difficult conversation or manage performance.

And training isn't automatically the answer to every performance problem.

The starting point should be understanding what people need to be able to do, what is getting in the way and what will genuinely help.

When development is part of the answer, people need opportunities to learn, practise, receive feedback, apply what they have learned and keep developing afterwards.

THE REAL TEST OF DEVELOPMENT ISN'T WHAT HAPPENS IN THE ROOM.

IT'S WHAT PEOPLE CAN DO DIFFERENTLY WHEN THEY GET BACK TO WORK.
